The Artistic Journey of Museum Professional Emma Rathe

Jordan and Emma Rathe delve into her creative journey and the influence of location on her artistic pursuits. Emma recounts her move from Nebraska to film school in New York, where she found a supportive environment for exploring her creative passions.

Emma reflects on her experiences as a director, the challenges she met on set as a young artist, her move to LA, and her transition to museum studies. Drawing on her role at the George Eastman Museum, she talks about preserving images ethically and connecting people with art, and about art’s ability to bridge divides, foster empathy, and engage audiences from students to veterans.

She closes with advice for college students and recent graduates: embrace risk, keep creating, and trust the power of art to transform lives and connect communities.
