In “The Hunting of Tulikettu,” a hunter has a chance encounter with the mythical fox of the northern lights.
This episode welcomes a new kind of episode, Aurora Art, in which our airwaves share the auroras of talented artists, storytellers, and musicians in the form of stories, poems, audio dramas, music, and more.
This week, Aurora Art features Jordan Bianchi’s short story and audio drama, “The Hunting of Tulikettu,” about the Finnish fox of the northern lights. Its animated adaptation was brought to life in The Client Project with Villa Maria College animation students in 2022.
In The Client Project, created by Professor Joshua Muntain and Jordan, the students of Villa’s Post-Production animation class work with Jordan, who plays “the client,” to animate one of his audio dramas. For Tulikettu, a dozen sophomores each pitched and animated about forty seconds of the story, with their own concept art, lookbooks, and storyboards, and together delivered more than nine minutes of animation. It was Muntain and Bianchi’s second time running the project.
Written, directed, and produced by Jordan Bianchi. Narrated by Keith Gallucci. Music composed and performed by Eddie Irvin. Story edited by Amanda Bintz. Titles by Laurie Sever.
Animated by Delanie Daigler, Mars Titus, Jamila Jelks, Josh Quinones, Demante Chatmon, Savannah Hicks, Erin Hill, Haley Wylupski, Kayla Cieslikowski, Gregory Podsiadlo Jr., Tim Reinard, and Caitlin Cork, in a class project produced by Joshua Muntain and Jordan Bianchi.
